BOASTFUL ARROGANT MEN: PRIDE
Don't you just love to hang out with those 'know-it-alls', who are always bragging about themselves. I don't. As a matter of fact, the Bible actually commands one to stay clear of such people. The constant attitude of these people, especially in a crowd of people either directly or indirectly is always....'See what I know, see how I did it, see what I have....I....I....I'. It can come in many different sizes, shape and colors but the listener to such boasting gets the same thought, 'how can I avoid this idiot'. Seeing beyond the surface of such bragging is the root of pride. And that's why prideful people feel most alone because people glady leave them in this foolishness.
What's the solution to such boastfulness?
Doug Wilson says:

'It is not "no boasting," but rather learning to change the direct object of our boast. What is the antidote to pride? The Bible teaches that the answer is boasting. "My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad" (Ps. 34:2; cf. 2 Cor. 10:17).

Isn't that the truth!?! One of the easiest ways to detect pride in a person is if that person is not able or willing to extend a compliment to someone other than themself, especially when the other person has excelled farther then them in some common area of interest. For a person to authentically compliment and brag about another person requires humility, which is impossible for a proud man.

Application and resolution:
How long has it been since I genuinely encouraged and bragged about someone, and more than that, when have I genuinely bragged about God?
